When I was a little kid (ten perhaps?) in the late 70s, I was obsessed
with 2001: A Space Odyssey, and Hal was my hero. My plan was that
when I grew up, I would be a psychologist for insane computers. (Obviously
that would be a valid career choice in the distant future of the 1990s!)
