Operation Dateline Dig - First Expedition

On a bright cold day in early December, 2000, an exploratory team of FELFAT personel headed for the Bering Straits to start work on Operation Dateline Dig.

We did not expect to make any significant impact on the Earth's crust on this expedition. This was merely reconnaisance, to scout out the area and to make sure that we will be sufficiently prepared for the second expedition, when we plan on actually breaking through the upper layers of the lithosphere.

We quickly managed to find a spot directly on the International Dateline.

Initial digging leads us to believe that the Bering Straits between Alaska and Siberia will be an excallent place to initiate Operation Dateline Dig.

Continued digging later in the day led to some dispute amoung our engineers regarding the exact thickness of the Earth's crust. Dispite this conflict, everyone felt greatly invigorated by finally being out in the water, moving some Earth!

We start here and head south.
